17 August 06 - 13:12Things to do Outdoors
Whilst it's still nice and warm outside, here's a few suggestions of things to do with your children outdoors in Quebec (including things that aren't always in travel guides).
Le Village du Père Noël - There's so much to do here and so little time left. Only open until 27th August, and then again on 2nd, 3rd and 4th September. Under 2s are free, ages 2-65 $10.50 and over 65s are $8. (There's a $2 discount coupon on the website) Meet Santa and his reindeer - just off Highway 15, exit 76 (45 minutes drive from Montreal).
Le Jardin Botanique - there's lots happening all through the summer here. The Garden is 75 years old this year and there's a wonderful photo exhibition featuring photos of families who have visited the garden since it opened in 1931. There are also activities, dancing and craft demonstrations each weekend throughout the summer.
Strawberry and Raspberry Picking - (website in French only) - Why not spend some time outdoors picking strawberries and raspberries? This site shows you where and when. La ferme Richard Roger in Laval has organic fruits to pick. The kids will love it!!
The beach at the Cap Saint-Jacques Nature Park - until 27th August (10am to 7pm). Very popular with people of all ages. Canoe, kayak and pedalo rentals, picnic area, snack bar. Charges apply.
