27 July 06 - 11:40Things to do Indoors

Now that it's freezing cold outside, we all want to find things to do with our kids indoors! Here are some suggestions:

The Centaur Theatre Children's Series - click on "More" and then "Children's Series" and it lists upcoming plays for the whole family to enjoy.

The Stewart Museum - Free admission every Saturday until 28th April 2007. Free parking in P7, except on certain weekends. Guided tours. Open 10am to 5pm.

Jeunesses Musicales Canada - Sunday May 6th. "Fiestango" Three shows - 11am and 1pm lasting 35 minutes, and at 3pm lasting 55 minutes. $6 for adults and children.

Butterflies Go Free - Yippee! How fast the year has flown - my kids loved this last year, and we'll be visiting again this year. From February 23rd to April 29th 2007. For ages 2 and up. Various prices - regular adult: $13.50, child aged 2-4: $2, child aged 5-17: $6.75. Open 9am to 5pm Tuesdays to Sundays, and Monday 5th March and Monday 9th April.

The Biosphere - ongoing activities for all ages.

Exporail - About a 20 minute drive out of Montreal in St. Constant, Quebec, this railway museum is a must-see. It's perfect for any kind of weather as there are indoor and outdoor exhibits and activities for all ages. We visited during Spring, so only the indoor area was open, but during the summer there's so much more to see!

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts - Family Sundays. Take a look at the link to the site for more information.

Museum of Costume and Textile of Quebec (website in French only) - Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm in St. Lambert, to the south of the Island of Montreal, children can create plastic arts at their workshops. A guided visit will follow. Free for children under age 6. $1.50 6-12 year olds. $3 for adults.

The Children's Museum of Laval - just north of the Island of Montreal is this new museum especially for curious children who want to know "what they're going to be when they grow up"! There's so much to get your hands on here! $8.55 for anyone over 2 years old.
